What we deliver

Odoo POS for Multi-Branch Shops and Restaurants in Abu Dhabi: what is included

Odoo POS Abu Dhabi projects from Shyphan are for retailers and restaurants running several counters or branches, in island malls, Khalifa City neighbourhood centres and Al Ain.

01

Offline tills that sync later

Mall and basement locations lose connection. Odoo POS keeps selling offline and uploads orders when the connection returns, so a network outage does not stop the queue at a busy Abu Dhabi branch.

02

Restaurant floor and kitchen screens

Restaurants get table plans, split bills, course timing and orders sent to kitchen display screens or printers by station. Waiters take orders on tablets, and the kitchen sees them instantly.

03

VAT-compliant receipts

Receipts show your TRN, VAT amounts and totals in AED, in Arabic and English where you need both. Returns and refunds are linked to the original sale, keeping the VAT 201 figures correct.

04

Branch stock and transfers

Each Abu Dhabi and Al Ain branch has its own stock. Sales deduct from the right branch, low stock triggers transfers from the central store, and managers see sell-through by branch.

05

Loyalty, gift cards and promotions

Points programmes, gift cards, happy-hour prices and buy-one-get-one offers are set centrally and apply at every till. Customers identified by phone number earn and spend points at any branch. Promotions can be limited to specific branches.

06

Cash control and session closing

Each till session records opening float, cash, card and other payment totals, with differences flagged at closing. Area managers review session reports for all branches in one place. Cash deposits are reconciled against bank statements in Odoo Accounting.

A worked example

How Odoo POS for multi-branch shops and restaurants in Abu Dhabi looks in practice. Illustrative; every project is scoped to the business.

Picture a specialty coffee group with outlets on Abu Dhabi island, in Khalifa City and one in Al Ain. Each branch uses a different till app, milk and beans are ordered by WhatsApp, and head office rebuilds weekly sales from exported spreadsheets. Staff move between branches, so every till works differently for them.

  1. Configure one Odoo POS setup per branch with a shared product catalogue, branch-specific prices where needed, and the same screen layout so staff moving between outlets need no retraining.
  2. Link coffee drinks to recipes so each cup consumes beans, milk and cups from the branch's stock, generating replenishment suggestions from a central store.
  3. Set up a single loyalty programme across all branches, with points earned in Al Ain redeemable on the island, all posting to one set of accounts.
What changes: Head office sees sales, stock and loyalty for every branch without spreadsheets, branches reorder from actual consumption, and staff switching outlets use the same till layout everywhere.

Options compared

Which platform for Odoo POS for multi-branch shops and restaurants in Abu Dhabi?

An honest comparison. We implement all of these, so the recommendation follows your processes, team and budget.

OptionBest whenHow it fits this need
Odoo POSMulti-branch retail or food outlets wanting tills tied to stock and accountsSuits Abu Dhabi groups where POS, inventory, purchasing and accounting should share one database. Offline mode, restaurant features and loyalty come standard, with local support for rollouts.
Standalone cloud POS appSingle cafe, owner wants quick setup and no ERPA fair choice for one outlet that only needs sales and basic reporting. As branches grow, syncing to separate accounting and stock tools becomes the headache Odoo avoids.
Zoho POS with Zoho BooksBusinesses already on Zoho Books and InventoryGood for small Abu Dhabi retailers already invested in Zoho. Restaurant features such as floor plans and kitchen screens are less developed than Odoo's for food-service groups.
Dynamics 365 CommerceLarge retail chains with enterprise IT teamsDesigned for large chains and heavy omnichannel needs. Usually too costly and complex for a cafe or small retail group; Shyphan is an independent consultancy, not a Microsoft partner.
UAE specifics

What changes in Abu Dhabi

The local rules and realities we design for before go-live. Rules change, so we re-check the current position at scoping.

Mall and neighbourhood branches

Abu Dhabi retailers often combine island mall units with neighbourhood branches in Khalifa City or Mohammed Bin Zayed City. Central price and promotion control keeps all tills consistent.

Al Ain branches

Chains with Al Ain branches get the same POS and loyalty, with branch stock replenished from Abu Dhabi or a local store, and Al Ain sales visible in the same reports.

Hospitality volume and staff turnover

Abu Dhabi cafes and restaurants see high staff turnover. The Odoo POS interface is quick to learn in Arabic or English, which shortens training for each new cashier.

Working with businesses in Abu Dhabi: we support companies across ADGM, KIZAD, Musaffah and Masdar City, with remote delivery and on-site workshops where the project needs them.

Cost and integrations

What drives the cost, and what it connects to

No price list: we quote a fixed price in AED after discovery. These are the factors that move the effort up or down.

Number of branches

Each branch needs hardware setup, testing and training. A group spread across the island, Khalifa City and Al Ain also needs travel for installation days.

Recipe and modifier depth

Cafes with many drink sizes, milk options and add-ons need careful product, modifier and recipe setup so stock consumption stays accurate across every branch.

Hardware on site

Printers, cash drawers, kitchen screens and payment terminals all need connecting and testing. Reusing compatible existing hardware reduces effort, but it must be tested first.

Loyalty and promotion rules

Simple points programmes are quick. Tiered programmes, branch-specific promotions and gift cards across outlets take longer to configure and test properly before launch.

What it connects to

Card payment terminals

Sale amounts pass from Odoo to supported terminals, and approval results return to close the order.

Talabat and Deliveroo

Delivery orders enter the POS or kitchen screen through a connector, so stock and sales include aggregator orders.

Kitchen display screens

Orders route from tills to bar or kitchen screens by station, with preparation status returned to front of house.

UAE bank feeds

Daily card settlements reconcile against POS session totals in Odoo Accounting, exposing missing or delayed payouts.

Odoo IoT Box

Connects printers, scales and cash drawers to the POS in each branch with a single local device.

How it works

How we deliver Odoo POS for multi-branch shops and restaurants

Phases, indicative timing and what is delivered in each. Scope is fixed and priced in AED before we start.

1Week 1

Branch survey

We review branches, till counts, hardware, menus or product ranges and current closing routines. We also check network reliability in each mall or branch.

2Weeks 2-3

POS configuration

Products, menus, floor plans, taxes, receipts, loyalty rules and payment methods are configured. Arabic and English receipt layouts are approved with your finance team.

3Week 3

Hardware setup

Printers, scanners, cash drawers, kitchen screens and card terminals are tested with Odoo. Existing hardware is reused where it works, to keep costs down.

4Week 4

Pilot branch

One branch trades on Odoo POS for a week while we adjust layouts and closing steps.

5Weeks 5-6

Branch rollout

Remaining branches go live in sequence with staff training at each site. A floor walker supports each branch on its first trading day.

When Odoo POS for multi-branch shops and restaurants is the wrong answer

Odoo POS is not ideal for a single small outlet that only needs a basic till; a simple cloud POS costs less. Some specialist hotel property management needs, such as room folios and channel managers, are outside Odoo POS and need a hotel PMS with an integration.

How we handle it: We implement Zoho, Odoo and Dynamics 365 and build AI and custom software, so our written recommendation can point you to a simpler option, or to doing nothing yet.

Before you buy

Checklist and common mistakes

Buyer's checklist

What to ask for before you choose a provider.

  • Ask to see an offline sale and later sync during the demo, not just be told it works.
  • Confirm the card terminal and receipt printer models they have tested with Odoo in UAE branches.
  • Require a clear plan for cashier training across shifts, including branches in Al Ain.
  • Check how cash differences at session close are reported and approved by area managers.
  • Ask how branch-level stock transfers and central purchasing will work on day one.
  • Get written support hours covering evenings and weekends, when Abu Dhabi outlets are busiest.

Common mistakes

What we see go wrong in the UAE, and how to avoid it.

  • Different till layouts per branchLetting each branch design its own screens slows staff who rotate between outlets. Standardise layouts group-wide and allow only branch-specific prices and menu items.
  • Skipping recipe setupSelling drinks without recipes means stock never moves, so reorder suggestions are useless. Configure recipes for top sellers first and expand gradually.
  • Going live on a weekendLaunching tills on the busiest days in Abu Dhabi malls invites queues and errors. Go live midweek at quieter hours with support on site.
  • Ignoring card settlement reconciliationIf card payouts are not matched to sessions, differences pile up for months. Match settlements to POS sessions weekly from the first month.

FAQ

Odoo POS for Multi-Branch Shops and Restaurants in Abu Dhabi: questions we get asked

Does Odoo POS Abu Dhabi work when the internet goes down?
Yes. Tills continue selling offline and sync orders when the connection returns. Card terminals that need a connection may need a backup, which we plan with you. We test the offline mode at your pilot branch before rollout.
How is Odoo POS different from Odoo eCommerce?
POS sells at the counter or table; eCommerce sells online with delivery or collection. They share products, prices, stock and loyalty, so a customer earns points in store and online. Click-and-collect orders from the online shop appear at the branch till for pick-up.
Can Odoo POS run our restaurants in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain?
Yes. Each restaurant has its own floor plan, kitchen screens and stock, while menus, prices and reports are managed centrally for all branches. Central kitchens can supply branches through internal transfers, keeping stock accurate in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Are Odoo POS receipts VAT compliant in the UAE?
Receipts show your TRN, VAT and AED totals, with Arabic and English text if required. Refunds link to the original sale so VAT reports stay correct. Z-reports per session support cash reconciliation and the VAT 201 return each quarter.
What hardware do we need?
A tablet or PC with a browser, a receipt printer, cash drawer and barcode scanner for retail, plus kitchen screens or printers for restaurants. We test your existing hardware before recommending new devices. Card terminals from your UAE acquirer are connected where supported.
How long does a multi-branch POS rollout take?
Usually five to six weeks: configuration, a pilot branch, then branch-by-branch rollout. More branches or complex menus extend the rollout phase. Branches go live one at a time so staff can be trained properly and issues are fixed before the next opening.
Can Odoo POS Abu Dhabi run the same loyalty programme in Al Ain and on the island?
Yes. One Odoo database can hold a group-wide loyalty programme, so points earned at any branch are redeemable at the others. Branch-specific promotions can run alongside it. We set the rules so accounting records the loyalty liability correctly and head office can see redemptions by branch.
Can we open a new Abu Dhabi branch without a full new project?
Usually yes. Once the first branches are live, adding another is mostly hardware setup, a POS configuration copy and cashier training. Most of the catalogue, pricing and accounting rules already exist, so new branches become a repeatable checklist that your own team can largely follow.
Does Odoo POS support table-side ordering on handheld devices?
Yes. Waiters can take orders on tablets or phones running the POS in the browser, sending items straight to the kitchen screen. Wi-Fi coverage in the dining area needs checking before rollout, especially in large mall food courts and outdoor terraces where signal can drop.
Why choose Shyphan?
We are a Zoho Premium Partner, an Official Odoo Partner and an independent Dynamics 365 consultancy that also builds AI and custom software, so we recommend by fit rather than by what we resell. Delivery runs from our Ras Al Khaimah office with remote delivery across all seven emirates.
