What it does

What Zoho Books gives you out of the box

  • Factur-X e-invoices sent through an approved platform from inside Zoho Books
  • Standard, intermediate, reduced and special TVA rates, exempt, reverse-charge (autoliquidation) and intra-EU handling out of the box
  • Open banking feeds from the major French banks with rules-based reconciliation
  • Recurring invoices, payment reminders, GoCardless Direct Debit and Stripe card collection
  • Projects, timesheets and billable expenses that convert straight into invoices
Understanding Zoho Books

Is Zoho Books the right fit for your business?

Zoho Books suits French SAS and SARL companies, micro-entrepreneurs and accounting practices that need clean books ready for their expert-comptable without an on-premise ledger. If that describes you, the platform will earn its licence quickly; if it does not, we will say so on the discovery call rather than after the invoice.

The capabilities that matter most in French deployments are e-invoices in Factur-X sent through an approved platform from inside Zoho Books and standard, intermediate, reduced and special TVA rates, exempt, reverse-charge and intra-EU handling out of the box. Everything else is configuration around those two.

Hybrid working made the shared spreadsheet on a server share unworkable, and most French operational systems have been rebuilt in the cloud since. We size the edition against what you will genuinely use, which frequently means recommending a cheaper plan than the one you arrived expecting to buy.

Across France

Zoho Books for businesses across France

We implement Zoho Books for clients in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Lille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Nice, Strasbourg, Grenoble, Montpellier and Rennes and every region between. Delivery is remote on CET and CEST with on-site workshops where the scale justifies it.

French deployments almost always need three things handled properly: French tax treatment, integration with the finance system already in place, and training that survives the first busy month. Those are the parts we spend the most time on.

Most enquiries start in one of a few places: Zoho Books consultant, Zoho Books support, or Zoho Books integration. If you are not sure which you need, the discovery call will tell you.

Finance in France

Getting Zoho Books right in France

Most French finance teams come to us with the same four problems. This is how we handle them in Zoho Books.

The right TVA rate on every line

20% on most sales, 10% on restaurant meals and passenger transport, 5.5% on most food and books and 2.1% on press and some medicines: each product carries its rate, and the CA3 or CA12 figures come straight from the ledger.

E-invoices through an approved platform

Invoices go out as Factur-X, UBL or CII through an approved platform (Plateforme Agréée), carrying the mandatory mentions: SIREN, intra-community VAT number, payment terms, the late-payment penalty rate and the EUR 40 recovery fee.

PCG accounts and a FEC on demand

The chart of accounts follows the Plan Comptable Général, and the FEC can be produced at any time, so a tax audit request is an export rather than a project.

EU trade handled properly

Intra-EU B2B sales apply the reverse charge (autoliquidation), B2C distance sales go through the OSS, and the data for EMEBI and DES declarations is ready each month, with the books kept in EUR.

French compliance

What French compliance means for Zoho Books

In France, TVA and corporate tax are filed with the DGFiP, payroll is reported every month through the DSN, and the e-invoicing reform changes how invoices are sent and received from 1 September 2026. These are the rules a French setup has to get right.

ObligationWhat the rule isWhat has to be configured
TVA (VAT)The standard rate is 20%, with 10% for restaurants, passenger transport and some renovation work, 5.5% for most food, books and energy-efficiency works, and 2.1% for the press and some medicines. Returns go on the CA3, monthly or quarterly for small amounts, under the régime réel normal, or on the annual CA12 with instalments under the régime réel simplifié. Intra-EU B2B trade uses the reverse charge (autoliquidation) with EMEBI and DES declarations, B2C distance sales go through the OSS, and import VAT is self-assessed on the CA3.The right rate by item and customer, SIREN and intra-community VAT numbers on every invoice with the mandatory mentions (payment terms, late-payment penalty rate and the EUR 40 fixed recovery fee), reverse charge and OSS treatment set correctly, deductible TVA tracked, and CA3 or CA12 figures for each period.
E-invoicing reformFrom 1 September 2026 every VAT-registered business must be able to receive structured e-invoices, and large and mid-sized companies (GE and ETI) must also issue e-invoices and e-report. SMEs and micro-businesses must issue from 1 September 2027. Invoices travel through approved platforms (Plateformes Agréées) in Factur-X, UBL or CII format, and invoices to the public sector already go through Chorus Pro.Zoho Books' French edition producing Factur-X invoices and connected to B2Brouter, an approved platform, for sending and receiving, customer SIREN numbers captured on every account, and the full flow tested before your issuing date.
Corporate tax (IS)The standard rate is 25%, or 15% on the first EUR 42,500 of profit for qualifying SMEs (turnover under EUR 10m, fully paid-up capital and at least 75% held by individuals). The annual liasse fiscale is built from accounts kept on the Plan Comptable Général, and the FEC (Fichier des Écritures Comptables) must be produced on request in a tax audit.A chart of accounts on the PCG, entities kept separate, fixed assets recorded, and journals kept complete and sequential so the FEC can be produced on request.
Payroll (DSN, URSSAF, PAS)Every month the employer files the DSN (déclaration sociale nominative) through net-entreprises.fr, pays social contributions to URSSAF and withholds income tax at source (prélèvement à la source). Payroll runs on a French payroll engine such as Silae, PayFit, Sage Paie or Cegid; Zoho Payroll is not available in France.Zoho People kept as the HR record and connected to your payroll provider, so hires, pay changes, absences and leavers flow across without rekeying, and payroll journals posting to the ledger.
Employment and data rulesThe legal working week is 35 hours, with RTT days where working time is set above it, five weeks' paid leave (2.5 working days per month), sector collective agreements (conventions collectives) and mandatory company health cover (mutuelle). GDPR is enforced by the CNIL, including consent before non-essential cookies, and the Loi Toubon requires French in consumer documents, employment documents and contracts.Leave, RTT and working-time rules set per collective agreement, accounts provisioned in Zoho's EU data centre (zoho.eu), consent captured for every contact, French templates for customers and staff, and access and deletion requests handled on record.

The filing calendar

  • Monthly, quarterly or annuallyTVA return: the CA3 monthly (or quarterly for small amounts) under the régime réel normal, or the annual CA12 with instalments under the régime réel simplifié
  • MonthlyDSN through net-entreprises.fr, with social contributions to URSSAF and income tax withheld at source
  • Once a yearLiasse fiscale and corporate tax (IS) return, built from the annual accounts
  • 1 September 2026 and 1 September 2027E-invoicing: every business must receive from 2026, large and mid-sized companies issue from 2026, and SMEs and micro-businesses issue from 2027

Who you file with

We configure the system to produce what these returns need, and we test it against your own transactions before go-live. We are not tax advisers: your expert-comptable signs the returns, and rates and thresholds change, so treat this as the shape of the work rather than advice. Last reviewed 24 October 2026.

FAQ

Zoho Books in France: questions answered

How is Zoho Books set up for TVA and the CA3?
We map products and customers to their TVA rate and treatment, apply the reverse charge on intra-EU B2B sales, put your SIREN and intra-community VAT number on every invoice and test the CA3 or CA12 figures against a full period of your own transactions before handover.
Is Zoho Books ready for the 2026 e-invoicing reform?
From 1 September 2026 every VAT-registered business in France must be able to receive structured e-invoices, large and mid-sized companies must also issue them and e-report, and SMEs and micro-businesses must issue from 1 September 2027. We set the system up to produce Factur-X, UBL or CII and to exchange invoices through an approved platform. With Zoho Books, that means its Factur-X export and its connection to B2Brouter, an approved platform.
Is Zoho Books suitable for French businesses?
Yes. Zoho Books has a French edition with TVA at every French rate, Factur-X export, a connection to B2Brouter for e-invoicing, bank feeds and French reports. We set up TVA, your SIREN and VAT numbers and a chart of accounts on the Plan Comptable Général with you, and test a full period before handover.
Can Zoho Books support the régime réel normal and the régime réel simplifié?
Yes. Under the régime réel normal we set the CA3 period to monthly, or quarterly where your TVA amounts are small, and under the régime réel simplifié we configure the annual CA12 with its instalments, so the return figures reconcile without manual adjustment and the setup can change as you grow.
Can our accountant get access?
Yes. Accountants and bookkeepers get a dedicated user role with the reports and journals they need and no access to payment rails. We commonly onboard the client and their practice together so both sides agree the chart of accounts up front.
How much does Zoho Books cost in France?
Zoho licences it per user or per organisation depending on the edition, billed in EUR by Zoho directly. Our implementation is quoted separately as a fixed price after a free discovery call, so there are two clear numbers and no bundled surprises.
How long does a Zoho Books rollout take?
A focused Zoho Books build for a small French team typically goes live in three to six weeks including data migration and training. Larger scopes with integrations or multi-entity requirements are phased so value lands early.
Where is our data stored?
We provision French clients in Zoho's data centre in Europe (zoho.eu), so your data is processed and stored in the European Union. We document this for your GDPR record of processing activities.
Is Shyphan a Zoho Premium Partner in France?
Yes. Shyphan is a Zoho Premium Partner listed on Zoho's official partner directory, with certified consultants across Zoho CRM, Books, Creator, People and Analytics serving clients throughout France.
Do you work with businesses outside Paris?
Yes. We deliver remotely across the whole France, from Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Lille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Nice, Strasbourg, Grenoble, Montpellier and Rennes to smaller towns, with on-site visits available for larger rollouts.

Where Zoho Books is weak - and what we do about it

There is no manufacturing or MRP, landed-cost handling is simpler than a full ERP's, and multi-entity consolidation across different charts of accounts takes real work.

How we handle it: For manufacturers we say so at the first call and scope Odoo or a Books-plus-Inventory split instead of pretending Books will cover it.
