Choosing between Zoho, SAP and Microsoft Dynamics 365 is now as much an integration decision as a features decision. This guide compares how each connects to other systems, using only what each vendor documents, and ends with a checklist for Gulf businesses.
All three now follow the same pattern: released APIs, an event layer, an integration platform, a separate data platform and AI agents reaching the ERP through protocols such as MCP. Zoho connects its own apps natively and uses Zoho Flow, Creator, Catalyst and Zoho MCP for the rest. SAP centres on clean core, BTP and Integration Suite. Microsoft builds on Power Platform, Dataverse, Fabric and MCP servers for Business Central and finance and operations. Note that Zoho ERP itself is so far launched only in India.

First, what "Zoho ERP" means in 2026
Zoho now sells a product called Zoho ERP. Zoho launched it on 23 January 2026 from Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu, and its announcement says it "is available in India for immediate use" and will be rolled out to other markets in phases. Zoho has not published dates for those other markets.
The scope is broad: core financials, billing, spend management, supply chain, omnichannel commerce, payroll, asset management, budgeting and continuous financial close, with industry capabilities for manufacturing, distribution, retail and non-profits. Zoho describes it as GST and e-invoicing compliant, which is Indian compliance, with native low-code tools and its Zia AI built in.
For a business in the UAE or Saudi Arabia today, "Zoho as the ERP" usually means a combination of Zoho Books, Zoho Inventory and related apps, often bought together through Zoho One. That matters for integration: you are connecting several Zoho apps that already share a platform, rather than one monolithic ERP.
Six integration trends shaping ERP choices
Price comparisons are covered in our Zoho vs SAP cost comparison. This article is about architecture: how each platform connects to everything else. Six trends now drive that decision.
- API-first, and only supported APIs. Vendors increasingly tell customers to integrate through released, versioned APIs rather than database tables or code changes. SAP has made this formal with its clean core levels.
- Event-driven integration. Instead of polling for changes every few minutes, the ERP publishes an event ("invoice posted", "order confirmed") and subscribers react. All three vendors now offer an event layer.
- iPaaS as the default glue. Point-to-point scripts are giving way to integration platforms with prebuilt connectors, monitoring and retries: Zoho Flow, SAP Integration Suite and Microsoft Power Automate.
- Clean core. Keep the ERP standard so upgrades stay painless, and build custom logic beside it on a separate platform.
- AI copilots becoming agents. Assistants that answered questions now create quotes, update records and run approvals. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is emerging as the common way for agents to reach ERP data and actions.
- A separate data platform. Analytics and AI increasingly run on a governed copy or link of ERP data, not on the transactional database itself.
How Zoho approaches integration
Zoho's strength is that most of its apps share one platform, so CRM, finance, inventory and HR are connected out of the box. For everything else, there are five main tools.
- APIs. Each Zoho app has its own REST API, and the Zoho ERP site links to its own API documentation (v3).
- Zoho Flow. Zoho's integration platform, which says it can "integrate 1,000+ cloud and on-prem apps". Flows start from webhooks, polling APIs, emails or RSS feeds, support custom functions in Deluge, and reach on-premises systems through an on-prem agent. Flow has documented connectors for SAP Business One (through the B1 Service Layer) and Dynamics 365 Business Central (create, update and fetch records, plus a "record created or updated" trigger).
- Zoho Creator. A low-code app builder with "over 1,000 prebuilt connectors", including SAP and Oracle, for building approval apps, portals and custom modules beside your Zoho stack.
- Catalyst. Zoho's full-stack cloud for pro-code work: serverless Functions, AppSail for persistent services, and Signals, an "event bus for event-driven architecture needs".
- Zoho MCP and Zia Agents. Zoho MCP turns Zoho apps such as CRM, Books, Desk, People and Creator into agent-ready endpoints under user-level OAuth permissions, and says it works with Claude, GPT and other models. Zia Agent Studio builds custom agents, and Zoho lists 100+ prebuilt agents across 60+ apps.
For analytics, Zoho Analytics connects to 500+ sources, including data warehouses.
How SAP approaches integration
SAP's integration story is built around one idea: clean core. In SAP's words, the goal is to "keep the core clean, standard, and upgrade-stable". In August 2025 SAP replaced its older three-tier model with four levels, from Level A (extensions built only on publicly released APIs) to Level D (modifications and direct table writes, which SAP does not recommend).
- Two clean ways to extend. On-stack with ABAP Cloud inside S/4HANA, or side-by-side on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). SAP recommends choosing case by case with "an SAP BTP-first strategy".
- SAP Integration Suite. The BTP integration layer. It includes Cloud Integration, with "a large library of prebuilt integration flows (iFlows), APIs, and connectors", API Management for publishing and securing APIs, and Event Mesh for event-driven integration.
- SAP Build. Low-code and pro-code app development and process automation on BTP.
- SAP Business Data Cloud. Announced in February 2025, it unifies SAP and third-party data and natively embeds Databricks technology.
- Joule. SAP's generative AI copilot, now extended with Joule Agents, Joule Studio for building agents, and Joule Work. In October 2026 SAP said Joule can connect with third-party agents through the Agent2Agent protocol, and its AI Agent Hub is positioned as a single control pane for agents, LLMs and MCP servers.
SAP offers deep integration and governance tooling, but projects need people who know BTP and clean core rules. Our SAP integration services in Saudi Arabia page covers the common connection points.
Key takeaways
- Zoho ERP launched in India on 23 January 2026; in the Gulf, Zoho's ERP route today is Zoho Books, Inventory and related apps, often via Zoho One.
- SAP's clean core levels make released APIs and side-by-side extensions on BTP the preferred way to integrate S/4HANA.
- Microsoft offers the widest set of documented patterns: REST, OData, batch APIs, webhooks, business events, Dataverse and Fabric.
- All three vendors now expose ERP data and actions to AI agents, with Zoho and Microsoft documenting MCP servers and SAP adding Agent2Agent support.
- In mixed landscapes, give every master record one owning system and decide which system issues the legal tax invoice.
- UAE e-invoicing goes live for businesses with AED 50 million or more in revenue on 1 January 2027, so integration plans should include the ASP connection now.
How Microsoft Dynamics 365 approaches integration
Dynamics 365 has two ERP families with different integration surfaces, both tied into the wider Microsoft stack.
Business Central
- REST APIs (v2.0) for "Connect apps", enabled by default online.
- Webhooks for supported entities such as customers, items and sales invoices. Subscriptions expire after three days unless renewed, and notifications are batched with a default 30-second delay.
- A built-in MCP server at a single Business Central endpoint. Its default configuration is read-only; admins choose which API pages agents may write to.
- Copilot agents such as the Sales Order Agent, which turns customer emails into quotes and orders, with people reviewing outgoing messages.
Finance and operations apps
- OData for real-time calls, a batch data API for high volumes, and custom services.
- Business events and data events, consumed through Power Automate, Azure Service Bus or Azure Event Grid.
- Dataverse integration: virtual entities (no data copy) and dual-write (near-real-time copy for overlapping entities such as customers and products). Power Platform integration became mandatory for all finance and operations environments from 1 May 2025.
- The Dynamics 365 ERP MCP server, which gives agents data, form and action tools under the agent's security role. The earlier static MCP server was scheduled to retire on 1 October 2026.
Across both, Link to Microsoft Fabric makes Dynamics 365 data available in OneLake through shortcuts, including finance and operations data, without building ETL pipelines. See our Zoho vs Microsoft Dynamics 365 comparison for the functional side.

Coexistence patterns: mixing front office and back office
Many Gulf groups will not run one vendor end to end. Three patterns are common.
- Zoho CRM in front, SAP behind. Sales teams work in Zoho CRM, while SAP stays the system of record for finance, pricing and stock. Orders and customer updates flow to SAP, and credit status and invoices flow back. See Zoho CRM and SAP integration. Note that Zoho Flow's ready connector is for SAP Business One; S/4HANA connections usually go through released APIs and SAP Integration Suite, or custom middleware.
- Zoho apps with Business Central. Zoho Flow's Business Central connector covers record-level create, update and fetch, which suits low-to-moderate volumes. Higher volumes or posting logic belong in the Business Central APIs.
- Subsidiary on a lighter ERP, group on SAP or Dynamics. A newer business unit runs Zoho Books or a custom system and sends consolidated journals to the group ERP. Our guide to custom ERP vs SAP in Saudi Arabia covers when this makes sense.
The rule that makes any of these work: each data object has one owner. Decide which system creates customers, items, prices and tax invoices, and make every other system read or request, never overwrite.
GCC compliance: e-invoicing changes the integration plan
E-invoicing turns tax compliance into an integration requirement.
- Saudi Arabia. ZATCA's FATOORA programme moved to the Integration Phase from 1 January 2023, rolled out in waves. In this phase the e-invoicing solution "must be integrated with ZATCA's systems".
- UAE. The Ministry of Finance's guidelines (version 2.0, 26 October 2026) describe a Peppol-based five-corner model in which invoices pass through Accredited Service Providers (ASPs) and data reaches the Federal Tax Authority. Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more had to appoint an ASP by 30 October 2026 and must go live by 1 January 2027. Others must appoint by 31 March 2027 and go live by 1 July 2027.
The practical question in a mixed landscape is simple: which system issues the legal tax invoice? That system needs the e-invoicing connection, and the CRM or commerce front end should hand off to it rather than issue its own. Both programmes keep publishing updates, so confirm current rules before you design.
Decision checklist
- Where is your existing estate? Heavy Microsoft 365 and Azure use favours Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. An existing SAP core favours BTP and Integration Suite. A Zoho front office favours Zoho Flow and Creator for the glue.
- How many systems must connect, and at what volume? Count interfaces, records per hour and whether they need real time. Batch and event options differ by platform.
- Who owns each master record? Write the ownership list for customers, items, prices, tax and invoices before choosing tools.
- Do you need on-premises connectivity? Check agent or gateway options for legacy systems, such as Zoho Flow's on-prem agent.
- How will you extend without touching the core? Pick the extension platform (Creator or Catalyst, BTP, or Power Platform) and agree that customisations live there.
- What is your AI agent policy? Decide which agents may write data, under which roles, and how MCP access is approved and logged.
- Where will analytics run? Choose the data platform early so reporting does not compete with transactions.
- Which system issues tax invoices? Map ZATCA or UAE ASP connections to that system.
- Who will run it? Check local partner skills and support hours for the stack you choose.
