The challenge

What ORBS needed to fix

ORBS is a Saudi on-demand healthcare and telemedicine provider. Shyphan built its mobile apps: one for patients to request and pay for care, one for clinicians to accept and complete visits, and an admin dashboard for the operations team, with clinical records kept in compliant health systems.

  1. Booking care on a phonePatients needed to request a home visit or video consult in a few taps.
  2. Triage and assignmentRequests had to be triaged and matched to an available clinician fast.
  3. Clinicians in the fieldClinicians needed their schedule, directions and visit details on their phone.
  4. Payment and feedbackEvery visit had to close with payment, an invoice and a patient rating.

Before and after

What changed for the team

BeforeAfter

Patients needed a quick way to request care from a phone

Patients book a home visit or video consult in a few taps

Requests needed fast triage and matching to an available clinician

Triage queue and assignment engine match bookings to clinician availability

Clinicians needed schedules, directions and visit details while in the field

Clinicians see assigned visits, directions and checklists in their own app

Each visit had to end with payment, invoice and rating

Every visit closes with in-app card payment, an invoice and a rating

How it works

The business process, step by step

  1. 01

    Care request

The patient opens the patient app, picks the right family profile and requests a home visit or a video consult in a few taps. The request goes to the booking and payments backend.

  2. 02

    Scheduling and triage

The backend's scheduling engine records the requested slot and urgency, and the request appears in the admin dashboard's triage queue, where the operations team can review it before assignment.

  3. 03

    Clinician assignment

The assignment engine matches the booking to clinician availability, and operations staff can assign manually from the dashboard. The clinician receives the visit in the clinician app, with push and SMS notifications.

  4. 04

    Home visit or video

For a home visit, the clinician app gives directions to the patient while the patient app shows the assigned clinician's live status. For a video consult, care is delivered remotely at the booked time.

  5. 05

    Visit closure

The clinician works through the visit checklist in the clinician app and closes the visit. Clinical data stays in the compliant health systems rather than in the app backend.

  6. 06

    Payment and rating

The patient pays by card in the app through the payment gateway, receives an invoice and rates the visit. Payments and feedback then appear in the admin dashboard's reports for the operations team.

FAQ

Questions about this project

Where is patient clinical data stored?

Clinical records are kept in compliant health systems, not in the app backend. The apps and backend handle booking, assignment, notifications, payments and ratings, and clinical data is handed off securely to the health systems designed to hold it.

How is a request matched to a clinician?

The backend's scheduling and assignment engine matches each booking to clinician availability. Requests also appear in the admin dashboard's triage queue, where the operations team can check urgency and assign a clinician manually when needed.

What did Shyphan build for ORBS?

Shyphan built the patient mobile app, the clinician mobile app, the admin dashboard for the operations team and the booking and payments backend, including the scheduling and assignment engine, the payment gateway connection, invoicing and push and SMS notifications.
