On 28 October 2026 Zoho relaunched Zoho Analytics as an agentic analytics platform. Ask Zia now coordinates six specialised AI agents that share one business context layer, and admins get new tools to see exactly what those agents did. Here is what changed, what is verified for the Gulf, and how to roll it out safely.
The new Zoho Analytics, announced on 28 October 2026, turns Ask Zia into a super agent that orchestrates six sub agents for analysis, visualization, data preparation, formulas, Python ML and SQL. They share a native semantic layer and ontology, can run on Zoho LLM, OpenAI or your own key, and are governed through AI Observability, Data Policies and a Data Catalog. Zoho says pricing is unchanged and every plan now includes Zoho LLM credits.

What Zoho announced on 28 October 2026
On 28 October 2026 Zoho introduced the new Zoho Analytics and described the change as a move from a self-service BI platform to an agentic analytics platform. The same day, Zoho Corporation published a press release with the commercial details.
The headline changes are:
- Ask Zia as a super agent. Ask Zia now plans and coordinates six specialised sub agents that share one semantic layer, one ontology and one conversation context. It keeps conversation history and agent memory, so follow-up questions continue the earlier thread.
- A business context layer. A native ontology maps business entities and how they relate (for example how Zoho CRM, Books and Desk records connect). A semantic layer works as a business glossary for AI, with descriptions, synonyms and instructions for metrics and fields. Teams can keep several semantic models and edit them without code.
- Custom agents. You can start from a gallery of prebuilt agents or build your own, grounded in a chosen semantic model and knowledge base, connected to MCP servers and web search, and limited by instructions and guardrails.
- Model choice. Ask Zia can run on Zoho LLM, on supported models from providers such as OpenAI, or with your own key (BYOK).
- Open access. A Zoho Analytics MCP server (remote or self hosted), a Claude connector and plug-in, a new CLI, and embedded AI agents inside your own apps and portals with permissions preserved.
Zoho also listed more than 50 capabilities beyond the agentic features, including pixel-perfect reports, scenario analysis, a correlation matrix, VARX forecasting, Jupyter notebooks and more than 30 new connectors such as SAP S/4HANA.
How Zoho got here: the 2025 to 2026 timeline
The October 2026 release did not appear from nowhere. Each step below is taken from Zoho's own announcements.
| Date | Announcement | What it meant for Analytics |
|---|---|---|
| 4 February 2025 | Zia Agents, Agent Studio and Agent Marketplace | Zoho set out its agent strategy across the whole product portfolio |
| 17 July 2025 | Zia LLM, prebuilt agents, custom agent builder and Zoho MCP Server | Zoho's in-house LLM became an option behind Zia features |
| 29 October 2025 | Zoho Analytics Q3 2025 updates | Agentic Ask Zia, Transform by Example for data prep, Embed Ask Zia Anywhere, custom agents through the Zoho Analytics MCP Server, what-if analysis in AutoML |
| 28 October 2026 | The new Zoho Analytics | Ask Zia super agent with six sub agents, ontology and semantic layer, custom agents, AI observability |
Older AI features remain part of the product. Zia Insights still adds narrative explanations to reports, with Low, Medium and High verbosity, and an Explain Data option that compares a selected data point with the rest to surface trends, contributing factors and outliers.
The six built-in agents inside Ask Zia
Zoho's launch post names the six sub agents that Ask Zia orchestrates. In practice you just ask Ask Zia a question; it decides which agent to call.
| Agent | What it does | Who benefits most |
|---|---|---|
| Data Analysis Agent | Answers plain-English questions with descriptive, diagnostic and prescriptive insights | CFOs, sales heads, business owners |
| Visualization Agent | Builds and refines reports and dashboards from a text description | Analysts, department managers |
| Data Preparation Agent | Cleans, combines and transforms data, and builds pipelines from plain-language instructions | Data engineers, finance ops |
| Formula Agent | Writes reusable formulas for business metrics | Analysts, controllers |
| DSML Coding Agent | Works in Code Studio to train and run Python machine learning models | Data science teams |
| SQL Agent | Writes, explains, fixes and optimises SQL queries | IT and BI developers |
All six read from the same semantic layer. That is the practical point: if "net revenue" is defined once, every agent uses the same definition instead of guessing from column names.
How AI agents differ from classic BI dashboards
Dashboards are not going away. Agents change how people get to an answer and what happens after it.
| Classic BI dashboard | Agentic analytics (Ask Zia) | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | A fixed set of charts someone designed in advance | A question in plain English |
| Follow-up questions | Need a new report or an analyst | Asked in the same conversation, with context kept |
| Business definitions | Live in report formulas, often duplicated | Held once in the semantic layer and shared by all agents |
| Building work | Analyst builds pipelines, formulas, SQL | Agents draft pipelines, formulas and SQL for review |
| Where answers appear | Inside the BI tool | Inside Zoho Analytics, embedded apps and portals, or external assistants through MCP |
| Oversight | Report access rights | Access rights plus AI observability of agent runs, access, usage and cost |
The trade-off is that agents are only as good as the context you give them. A dashboard with a wrong formula is wrong in one place. A semantic model with a wrong definition is wrong in every answer. That is why the setup work moves from building charts to defining metrics.
Key takeaways
- Zoho announced the new agentic Zoho Analytics on 28 October 2026, with Ask Zia acting as a super agent over six specialised sub agents.
- A native semantic layer and ontology give every agent the same business definitions, so metric definitions become the most important setup task.
- Custom agents, an MCP server, a Claude connector and embedded AI let you use Analytics agents outside the Zoho Analytics interface with permissions preserved.
- AI Observability, Data Policies, a Data Catalog and sandboxing give admins control over what agents access and what they cost.
- Zoho runs data centres in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but confirm your Analytics region and test Arabic prompts before committing.
- Zoho says pricing is unchanged, every plan includes Zoho LLM credits, and some previews roll out over four to eight weeks.
Practical use cases for UAE and Saudi teams
Finance
- Ask why gross margin fell last month and get a diagnostic breakdown by product, branch or customer group, then save the answer as a report for the monthly pack.
- Use the Data Preparation Agent to combine Zoho Books exports with bank or ERP data, so VAT and receivables views come from one cleaned pipeline.
- Use scenario analysis and forecasting to model cash flow under different collection assumptions before a board meeting.
Sales
- Ask which deals stalled in the last 30 days by emirate or region and what they have in common, using CRM data mapped in the ontology.
- Embed Ask Zia in a partner or distributor portal so each partner queries only the data their permissions allow.
- Let sales managers build their own pipeline views by describing them, instead of waiting on the BI queue.
Operations
- Combine Zoho Desk tickets with inventory or delivery data to see which SKUs drive the most complaints.
- Use anomaly detection on daily order or stock data to flag unusual movements across warehouses in Dubai, Riyadh or Jeddah.
- Connect SAP S/4HANA through the new connector where Zoho runs alongside an existing ERP.

Data residency, model choice and language: what is verified
Gulf buyers usually ask three questions before switching AI features on. Here is what Zoho's own pages say, and what they do not.
- Data centres. Zoho's Know Your Datacenter page lists Riyadh (primary) and Jeddah (secondary) in Saudi Arabia, and Dubai (primary) and Abu Dhabi (secondary) in the UAE. Zoho's Saudi hosting page describes Zoho as a CST-registered, Class-B certified cloud service provider and includes analytics in the suite hosted in the Kingdom. The UAE data centre announcement (20 January 2026) says the facilities host a range of Zoho cloud solutions but does not list Zoho Analytics by name. Confirm with Zoho which region your Analytics account is in before you sign up.
- What goes to which model. Zoho's AI features help page lists, feature by feature, whether Zoho LLM or OpenAI is used and what is shared. For example, Ask Zia for data preparation and formula suggestions send metadata only (table names, column names, data types) to OpenAI, while Zia Insights on Zoho LLM can use actual data. Zoho's Ask Zia page states customer data is not used for model training. If residency matters, prefer Zoho LLM for features that read actual data, and review the new AI Settings screen, which shows what each AI feature shares with external vendors.
- Arabic. None of the Zoho Analytics AI pages we reviewed list Arabic as a supported language for Ask Zia questions. Test Arabic prompts in a trial workspace before you promise Arabic-language analytics to users.
Governance: controls to set up before go-live
The release adds governance features that matter more once agents can act on data. Zoho names these in its launch post:
| Control | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Data Catalog | One catalog of assets with lineage, impact analysis, quality checks and tags |
| Data Policies | Access rules at table, column and row level |
| AI Observability | Which agents ran, who used them, what they accessed, how they answered, plus usage and cost tracking |
| AI Settings | A view of what each AI feature shares with external vendors |
| Sandbox and deployment management | A separate development environment, publishing to production and rollback |
| Agent permissions | Admins control who can use each custom agent and where it is available |
A sensible policy for most Gulf finance teams: row-level rules by entity or branch, PII columns marked before Zia Insights is enabled, external models limited to metadata-only features, and a monthly AI Observability review alongside the normal access review.
A rollout checklist for agentic Zoho Analytics
Zoho says cloud updates are available now and are opening gradually across regions and users. Previews of pixel-perfect reporting, the ontology and the semantic model roll out globally over four to eight weeks from launch, and on-premise updates are expected in Q1 2027. Plan around that.
- Check availability. Confirm the new features are live in your data centre region and plan, and note which items are still in preview.
- Pick three questions. Choose three high-value questions per department (for example, overdue receivables by customer, pipeline slippage, stock-outs by warehouse).
- Clean the sources. Fix duplicate customers, inconsistent branch names and missing dates first. Agents amplify messy data.
- Define the semantic model. Write descriptions, synonyms and instructions for the 20 to 30 metrics people actually use. Start with one model per department.
- Map the ontology. Confirm how CRM, Books, Desk and any external ERP records relate.
- Set data policies. Apply row and column rules and mark PII before opening Ask Zia to wider groups.
- Choose models. Decide per feature between Zoho LLM, a supported external model or BYOK, using the AI features help page.
- Pilot with one team. Compare agent answers against known reports for two to four weeks and correct definitions where they differ.
- Watch credits and usage. Every plan includes monthly Zoho LLM credits. Track consumption in AI Observability before scaling up.
- Extend carefully. Add custom agents, MCP connections and embedded portals only after the core answers are trusted.
On pricing, Zoho states that Zoho Analytics pricing is unchanged and that Zoho LLM credits are now included in every plan. Its press release gives the Basic plan as USD 24 per month billed annually, covering 2 users, 0.5 million rows and 10,000 Zoho LLM credits.
Where to get implementation help
