What is a BIMI record?

BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is an email standard that displays your brand logo next to authenticated emails in supporting inboxes. It is published as a DNS TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com and points to your logo (SVG) and, optionally, a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC).

What do I need before setting up BIMI?

You need an enforced DMARC policy of p=quarantine or p=reject at 100 percent (pct=100), a square SVG Tiny Portable/Secure logo hosted over HTTPS, and for many mailbox providers a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) or Common Mark Certificate (CMC).

Is a VMC certificate mandatory for BIMI?

A logo-only BIMI record is valid, but major providers such as Gmail and Apple Mail require a VMC (or CMC) before they will display the logo. The VMC URL is optional in the record itself but recommended for real-world logo display.

Where do I publish the generated BIMI record?

Publish it as a TXT record at the host default._bimi.yourdomain.com in your DNS provider, with the generated value starting with v=BIMI1. Allow time for DNS propagation, then validate with a BIMI checker.
