Overview

Odoo Customisation in Ireland

Shyphan is an Official Odoo Partner delivering Odoo Customisation to businesses across Dublin, Cork and Galway. Every engagement starts with a free 30-minute discovery call and a written summary, and turns into a fixed-scope statement of work with dates before anyone starts building.

What makes an Irish Odoo project different from a generic one is the regulatory detail. 23% VAT returns filed to Revenue through ROS; PAYE Modernisation real-time payroll reporting, PRSI and USC; and Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) for construction subcontractors. All of it has to be right in the system rather than corrected in a spreadsheet afterwards, and that is where a partner who works in this market every week earns their fee.

You own the outcome: your database, your data and any code we write, documented and handed over. Delivery is in English on Irish time (GMT/IST), Monday to Friday, with named consultants rather than a ticket queue.

Key Features

What you get

Configured, localised and supported for Ireland by Shyphan.

Studio Configuration

Fields, views, automated actions, approvals and PDF reports configured as data, which upgrades safely.

Custom Modules

Where configuration genuinely cannot do it, a properly structured module with tests and documentation.

Report & Document Design

Branded quotations, invoices, delivery notes and certificates that match your house style.

Workflow Automation

Approval chains, escalations, scheduled actions and notifications that remove manual chasing.

Access & Record Rules

Field-level and record-level security so people see exactly what they should.

Upgrade Safety

We keep the customisation surface small on purpose, and test every upgrade on staging first.

Testing

Automated tests on custom logic so a later change does not break it quietly.

Documentation

What was built, why, and how to change it - written down and handed over.

Honest Scoping

We tell you when a request is not worth the money it would cost to build.

What you get

  • Configuration before code - cheaper to build and far cheaper to maintain.
  • Upgrades stay possible - a small, deliberate customisation surface.
  • You own the code - repository access and documentation from day one.
  • Tested - custom logic covered so a later release does not break it silently.
  • Scoped honestly - including the requests we advise you not to build.

Built for Ireland by Shyphan

Where this service is weak - and what we do about it

No implementation partner can fix a process nobody owns internally. Projects fail on unowned data cleansing, scope that grows without being re-priced, and training cut to hit a date - not on the software.

How we handle it: We name those three as risks in the proposal, and ask you to nominate an internal owner before we start.

Local compliance

What compliance in Ireland means in practice

Almost everything Irish Revenue wants arrives through ROS, and payroll arrives on or before the day people are paid. For a subsidiary of an overseas group the harder part is usually not the Irish return itself but keeping the Irish books in a shape that satisfies both Revenue and the parent's reporting calendar.

ObligationWhat the rule isWhat has to be configured
VATThe standard rate is 23 per cent, with 13.5 and 9 per cent reduced rates and a zero rate on several categories. VAT3 returns are normally bi-monthly through ROS by the 23rd, and a Return of Trading Details follows annually.Tax rules per rate and per supply type, reverse charge on intra-EU acquisitions and on construction under RCT, and a VAT3 that reconciles to the ledger without a spreadsheet in between.
PAYE ModernisationA payroll submission goes to Revenue on or before each payday, carrying PAYE, PRSI and USC for every employee. There is no annual P35.Revenue Payroll Notifications imported before each run, so employees are taxed on the credits Revenue has actually issued rather than last month's.
Relevant Contracts TaxPrincipal contractors in construction, forestry and meat processing must notify each contract and each payment to Revenue, and deduct at the rate Revenue returns.Subcontractor records that hold the RCT rate and the deduction authorisation, with payment notification built into the payment run.
Corporation tax12.5 per cent on trading income and 25 per cent on passive income, with a 15 per cent effective minimum for in-scope large groups under Pillar Two.Trading and non-trading income separated in the ledger from the start, because splitting them afterwards is where the time goes.
Companies Registration OfficeAn annual return on Form B1 within 56 days of the annual return date, with financial statements attached.Statutory accounts produced from the same ledger the management accounts come from, so the two do not have to be reconciled.
GDPRThe Data Protection Commission supervises GDPR in Ireland, and is lead supervisory authority for many of the technology companies established here.Lawful-basis and consent records held against the contact, retention applied by the system, and subject access answered from a report rather than a search of inboxes.

The filing calendar

  • Every paydayPayroll submission to Revenue through ROS
  • Bi-monthly, by the 23rdVAT3 return
  • Monthly, by the 23rdPAYE, PRSI and USC payment
  • Within 56 days of the ARDForm B1 annual return to the CRO

Who you file with

We configure the system to produce what these returns ask for, and we test it against your own transactions before go-live. We are not tax agents: your accountant or tax adviser signs the return, and rates and thresholds change, so treat this as the shape of the work rather than advice. Last reviewed 15 September 2026.

FAQ

Odoo Customisation in Ireland - questions answered

How does PAYE Modernisation change the payroll process?
A payroll submission goes to Revenue on or before each payday, carrying PAYE, PRSI and USC for every employee, and there is no annual P35 to catch up on. The part that matters in setup is importing Revenue Payroll Notifications before each run, so people are taxed on the credits Revenue has actually issued.
Will customisation stop us upgrading Odoo?
Not if it is done carefully. Studio changes are data and survive upgrades well. Custom modules need review at each version, which is why we keep them small and test upgrades on a staging copy first.
Who owns the custom code?
You do. We deliver it in a repository you control, with documentation, and there is no licence you have to keep paying us for.
How do you decide between Studio and a module?
Studio for fields, views, reports, approvals and automated actions. A module for complex logic, integrations, performance-critical work and anything needing tests. We say which at scoping.
How long does Odoo Customisation take in Ireland?
Most engagements of this type run four to ten weeks. The variable is almost never the configuration; it is how clean your existing data is and how quickly your team can sign off decisions.
What does Odoo Customisation cost in Ireland?
A fixed price in EUR, agreed before work starts, with change requests priced before they are built rather than after. Odoo's licence is billed separately by Odoo.
How do you handle VAT under the Revenue Online Service (ROS)?
23% VAT returns filed to Revenue through ROS and PAYE Modernisation real-time reporting, PRSI and USC are configured and tested against your own data before go-live rather than assumed to work.
Can we phase this rather than doing it all at once?
Yes, and we normally recommend it. Finance first, then the operational apps, then sales and marketing - it gets value earlier and carries far less risk than a single cutover.
What happens after go-live?
A free 30-day hyper-care window with daily availability, then an optional monthly AMC: a named consultant who knows your database, SLA-bound response times, a pool of included hours, verified backups and a quarterly review. Support runs on Irish time (GMT/IST), Monday to Friday, in English. Call +44 7343 086577.
