Business software built for Qatar

Qatar has one of the highest GDPs per capita in the world and is diversifying hard under Qatar National Vision 2030, with sustained investment in construction, logistics, sport, tourism, financial services and technology. Companies operating onshore, inside QFZA or the Qatar Financial Centre, or across all three, adopt Zoho and Odoo to run finance, sales and operations on a single system.

Why businesses in Qatar choose Shyphan

Contracting, logistics, energy services, hospitality, retail and professional services firms make up the bulk of the Qatari private sector, and a great many of them still run on spreadsheets and disconnected tools. We put a single system in place - quotes, orders, invoices, stock and collections - without asking the team to change how they actually work.

Qatar applies no VAT today. A GCC-wide VAT has been agreed in principle but is not yet in force, so what matters now is excise tax on tobacco, energy and soft drinks, and corporate income tax at 10% on the foreign-owned share of profits - Qatari and GCC-owned entities are largely exempt. Returns are filed with the General Tax Authority through its Dhareeba portal. We configure your finance system for Dhareeba-ready records, riyal and multi-currency working, WPS payroll files and bilingual Arabic and English documents.

What we deliver

How the Sage to Zoho Books migration runs

Five stages, a sandbox dry run before anything goes live, and a fixed quote in QAR agreed up front.

01

Sage export and audit

A complete extract from Sage, profiled for duplicates, format breaks and referential gaps before any mapping is agreed.

02

Field mapping to Zoho Books

Every object and field mapped, picklists aligned, and the gaps between the two data models flagged in writing rather than discovered at cutover.

03

Cleansing and de-duplication

Trade names, Arabic and English name variants, tax identification number, phone formats and dates standardised, duplicates merged under agreed survivorship rules.

04

Sandbox dry run

A full rehearsal load you inspect against Sage, with an exception list resolved before the live run.

05

Cutover and reconciliation

Live load on an agreed window, counts and totals reconciled and signed off, and a read-only archive of Sage retained for GTA record-keeping.

FAQ

Sage to Zoho Books migration: questions answered

Will we lose our Sage history when we move to Zoho Books?
No. Notes, attachments, activity history and closed records come across alongside master data. Losing history is the quickest way to lose user trust, so we treat it as in scope from the start.
How long does a Sage to Zoho Books migration take?
For a typical Qatar SME, two to five weeks including the dry run and reconciliation. Sage exports vary considerably by product and version, so we confirm exactly which edition you run before quoting.
What usually goes wrong in a Sage migration?
Sage desktop products tie the ledger to a machine and a version. Qatari businesses move for remote and multi-entity access, for tax reporting that does not need a bridge, and for the cost of the surrounding tools Sage does not include. We surface these during profiling, before the quote is fixed, rather than raising them as change requests halfway through.
Can we run Sage and Zoho Books in parallel?
For finance migrations we usually recommend one parallel tax period so the numbers can be compared. For CRM and support tools, parallel running splits attention, so we prefer a clean cutover with the old system left read-only.
What happens to our Sage licences?
Keep them read-only until reconciliation is signed off and your first full tax period has closed on Zoho Books, then cancel. We plan the timing so you are not paying for both longer than necessary.
Do you migrate custom fields and workflows too?
Custom fields yes. Workflows are rebuilt rather than copied, because automation designed for Sage rarely maps cleanly and is usually worth simplifying while you have the chance.
Do you sign an NDA before we share our data?
Yes, as a matter of course. We also work in a sandbox with masked or sample data wherever the real thing is not needed.
Can you work in Arabic as well as English?
Yes. We deliver training and documentation in either language and build bilingual templates, forms and portals where your customers or staff need Arabic.
Can we speak to a reference client?
Yes. After the discovery call we will introduce you to a client of comparable size and sector wherever we have one who has agreed to act as a reference.
Does Qatar charge VAT?
Not today. A GCC-wide VAT has been agreed in principle but is not in force in Qatar, so there is no output VAT to charge or reclaim. What does apply is excise tax on tobacco, energy drinks and soft drinks, and corporate income tax at 10% on the foreign-owned share of profits. We configure the ledger so that if VAT does arrive, turning it on is a configuration change rather than a rebuild.
Who pays the 10% corporate income tax in Qatar?
It applies to the foreign-owned share of profits. Wholly Qatari and GCC-owned entities are largely exempt, which means a joint venture is taxed on part of its profit and not the rest. That split has to be visible in the books from day one, so we set up the entity and ownership structure before any transactions are posted rather than reconstructing it at year end.
Can you file through Dhareeba?
Filing itself stays with your tax agent, and Dhareeba is the General Tax Authority's portal they use. Our job is to make their work straightforward: a clean chart of accounts, supporting documents attached to entries, related-party transactions visible, and reports they can use directly rather than rebuild.
How long does implementation take?
A single-app rollout for a small team typically goes live in three to five weeks including data migration and training. Multi-entity, multi-currency or heavily automated builds run six to twelve weeks and we phase them, so the first group is working while the next is being configured. You get the timeline in writing with the fixed quote, before any work starts.
What does it cost?
Every engagement is quoted as a fixed price after a free discovery call, presented in QAR or USD to match how you budget, with the scope written down so the number does not move unless the scope does. Software licences, where any apply, are billed by the vendor directly and shown separately.

Who this is for

Is Sage to Zoho Books Migration the right fit for you?

Sage to Zoho Books Migration suits finance teams that want Dhareeba-ready books and riyal-and-dollar working without an on-premise ledger. If that is you, the licence usually pays for itself inside the first quarter. We will say so on the discovery call if it will not.

It is a poor fit if you need a heavily bespoke system with no commercial off-the-shelf equivalent, or if nobody internally can own the data. In either case we will tell you on the first call rather than after the invoice.
