Sage to Odoo Migration
Your history and your balances, intact.
Sage to Odoo in Bahrain: the short answer
- What it is
- Migrate from Sage to Odoo in Bahrain: master data, open balances and history moved, reconciled against the source and rehearsed on staging before a reversible cutover.
- Best suited to
- Businesses in Bahrain leaving a system they have outgrown, who need open balances and history to come across intact.
- Typical timeline
- A focused single-app rollout for a small team goes live in three to six weeks. A multi-app deployment with data migration and integrations usually runs eight to sixteen weeks.
- What it costs
- Implementation is quoted as a fixed price in BHD after a free 30-minute discovery call, and depends on the number of apps, the state of your data and the integrations you need. Odoo bills its software licence separately, per user and per app.
- Local specifics
- 10% VAT returns filed with the National Bureau for Revenue (NBR). SIO social insurance contributions and end-of-service indemnity. Bahrainisation ratios tracked against your actual headcount.

Sage to Odoo Migration in Bahrain
Moving from Sage to Odoo is a well-trodden path, and Shyphan runs these migrations for businesses across Manama, Riffa and Muharraq. What moves: Nominal ledger, customers, suppliers, products, open transactions and the aged debtor and creditor positions.
Sage 50 and Sage 200 both export adequately. The care is needed in nominal code mapping and in carrying aged analysis across so collections do not reset.
The migration is reconciled before anyone signs off: trial balance, aged receivables and payables, stock valuation and record counts are agreed against Sage, and your finance lead signs the reconciliation. A rollback position is kept until the parallel run is complete.
What you get
Configured, localised and supported for Bahrain by Shyphan.
Extract & Profile
We pull the source data early and profile it, so you know what is dirty in week one.
Cleansing List
A prioritised list of what only you can fix - duplicates, missing tax numbers, dead items.
Field Mapping
A written mapping from source field to Odoo field, agreed before anything is loaded.
Balance Reconciliation
Trial balance, AR and AP ageing and stock valuation reconciled to the source before sign-off.
Historical Transactions
As much history as genuinely earns its keep, with the rest archived and accessible.
Test Loads
Several rehearsal loads into staging so the production run is routine.
Parallel Run
Old and new running together for a period, with differences investigated, not ignored.
Rollback Plan
A documented way back if the cutover reveals something nobody expected.
Migration Report
What moved, what did not, and why - signed off by your finance lead.
What moves across
- Master data - customers, suppliers, products and the chart of accounts.
- Open items - unpaid invoices and bills with their ageing preserved.
- Opening balances - the trial balance as at cutover, reconciled to Sage.
- Stock - quantities and valuation, with the costing method agreed in advance.
- History - as much as genuinely earns its keep, with the rest archived.
Built for Bahrain by Shyphan

Where this migration is weak - and what we do about it
Migration cannot improve data that was wrong in the source system, and the cleansing is work only your team can do. History beyond a couple of years rarely earns the cost of moving it.
How we handle it: We profile the source data in week one and give you a prioritised cleansing list while there is still time to act on it.
What compliance in Bahrain means in practice
Bahrain has no personal income tax and no general corporate income tax, so most of the compliance load sits in two places: VAT with the National Bureau for Revenue, and the workforce obligations administered by the SIO and the LMRA.
| Obligation | What the rule is | What has to be configured |
|---|---|---|
| VAT | VAT is 10 per cent, raised from 5 per cent in January 2022. Registration is compulsory above the mandatory threshold. Returns are monthly for larger taxpayers and quarterly for the rest, filed with the National Bureau for Revenue. | Tax codes for standard, zero-rated and exempt supplies, tax invoices carrying the fields the NBR requires in Arabic and English, and a return that reconciles to the ledger. |
| Corporate taxation | There is no general corporate income tax; it applies only to oil and gas activity. A 15 per cent Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax applies to in-scope multinational groups from 2025. | For a group subsidiary, a ledger that supports the parent's consolidation and the top-up tax computation without a separate set of books. |
| Social insurance | Contributions go to the Social Insurance Organisation, at different rates for Bahraini and expatriate employees. | Two contribution rule sets applied by nationality, so the payroll does not need a manual adjustment every month. |
| Bahrainisation and the LMRA | The Labour Market Regulatory Authority administers work permits and the Bahrainisation ratio your licence requires. | Nationality, permit number and expiry held against every employee, with the ratio reported rather than counted by hand, and permit expiry alerts before they bite. |
| Wage Protection System | Salaries must be paid through the Wage Protection System so that payment is traceable to the registered employment record. | A WPS-format payment file generated from the payroll run, matched to the same employee records the permits are held against. |
| Commercial registration | Commercial registrations are maintained through Sijilat and renewed annually, with activity codes that have to match what you actually do. | Licence and registration expiry tracked in the system alongside the contracts that depend on them. |
The filing calendar
- Monthly or quarterlyVAT return to the NBR
- MonthlySIO contributions and WPS salary transfer
- On renewalLMRA work permits and Sijilat commercial registration
- AnnuallyFinancial statements, and the DMTT return where it applies

We configure the system to produce what these returns ask for, and we test it against your own transactions before go-live. We are not tax agents: your accountant or tax adviser signs the return, and rates and thresholds change, so treat this as the shape of the work rather than advice. Last reviewed 15 September 2026.
