Zero Trust Security

Zero trust is a security model that grants access based on verified identity, device health and context rather than on being inside the office network. It suits organisations with cloud apps, remote staff and suppliers who need limited access.

  • Access checked on every request
  • Least privilege by default
  • Rolled out in manageable stages
In short

Zero trust security is an approach in which every user, device and request is verified before access is granted, and each role reaches only the applications and data it needs. It replaces trust based on being inside the office network. Shyphan AI ITSM assesses maturity and delivers zero trust in practical stages for organisations in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Overview

Zero Trust Security: what it involves

The old model trusted anything inside the firewall. Today staff work from home, applications live in Microsoft 365, AWS and SaaS platforms, and suppliers connect from their own networks. A single compromised laptop on a flat VPN can reach almost everything. Zero trust is often sold as a product, but it is really a set of principles applied step by step to identity, devices, networks, applications and data.

We start with a maturity review and a short roadmap with quick wins. Typical early steps are strong MFA and conditional access in Entra ID or Google Workspace, device compliance checks through Intune or a similar tool, and replacing broad VPN access with per-application access through a zero trust network access service. Later stages cover segmentation, data classification and continuous monitoring. Each stage is scoped so it can be delivered and measured on its own.

Where zero trust usually starts

  1. 1Every user enrolled in strong MFA
  2. 2Conditional access policies for risky sign-ins
  3. 3Devices enrolled and checked for compliance
  4. 4Admin roles separated and time-limited
  5. 5A list of apps that still depend on full VPN access
What is included

Maturity review

Current state across identity, devices, network, apps and data.

Conditional access

Sign-in rules based on user, device, location and risk.

Device compliance

Only managed, healthy devices can reach company data.

Application access

Per-app access replacing broad network-level VPN.

Segmentation

Networks and workloads split so a breach stays contained.

Continuous monitoring

Sign-in and access signals reviewed for unusual behaviour.

Deliverables and pricing

What you receive, and what shapes the cost

What you receive

  • Maturity assessment across identity, devices, network, applications and data
  • Prioritised roadmap of stages with quick wins identified
  • Conditional access and device compliance policies configured
  • Per-application access design to replace broad VPN where suitable
  • Segmentation plan for servers, users, guests and operational technology

What affects the cost

  • Number of users, devices and applications in scope
  • Existing licences, such as Microsoft 365 Business Premium, E3 or E5
  • Amount of legacy or on-premises software that cannot use modern sign-in
  • Whether network segmentation and new access gateways are included

Zero Trust Security: project phases

  1. 01Assess maturity

We review current controls for identity, devices, networks, applications and data.

  2. 02Secure identity

Strong MFA, conditional access and separate admin roles come first.

  3. 03Secure devices and apps

Devices must meet compliance rules, and key applications move to per-app access.

  4. 04Segment and monitor

Networks and workloads are divided and access signals are watched for anomalies.

Avoid these

Common Zero Trust Security mistakes

Buying a product first

No single tool delivers zero trust, so start with a roadmap and use what you already license.

Doing everything at once

Big-bang changes cause outages and resistance, so deliver in funded, visible stages.

Ignoring unmanaged devices

Personal and contractor devices can bypass controls, so decide what they may reach and how.

Forgetting operational technology

Building systems, CCTV and factory equipment often cannot run agents, so segment them separately.

Key terms

Zero Trust Security terms explained

Never trust, always verify
The core zero trust principle that no request is trusted by default, even from inside the network.
ZTNA
Zero trust network access: per-application access granted after identity and device checks, instead of a full network VPN.
Microsegmentation
Dividing networks or workloads into small zones with tightly controlled traffic between them.
Device compliance
A check that a device meets security rules, such as encryption and current updates, before access is given.

What you get

The difference you will notice

  1. 01
    Smaller attack surface

Users and devices reach only what they need.

  2. 02
    Safer remote work

Access from anywhere without a wide-open VPN.

  3. 03
    A clear roadmap

Stages your team can fund and deliver in order.

How we deliver

Five steps from assessment to always-on support

  1. STEP 01Assess

We review your infrastructure, security posture, assets and support model, and agree priorities.

  2. STEP 02Design

A clear architecture and plan, with scope, timeline and a fixed quote before work starts.

  3. STEP 03Deploy

We supply, install, configure and migrate, then document everything we build.

  4. STEP 04Manage

UAE and Saudi Arabia

Zero Trust Security in the UAE and Saudi Arabia

Local offices in Ras Al Khaimah and Riyadh, remote support around the clock and on-site visits where your project needs them.

Zero Trust Security in the UAE

Shyphan AI Technology LLC, RAK Free Trade Zone, Ras Al Khaimah

UAE companies with staff spread across emirates, free zones and client sites gain most from per-application access that does not depend on one office VPN. In Microsoft-based estates, identity and device controls run in Entra ID and Intune, and workloads can be hosted in Azure's UAE North and UAE Central regions where local hosting is preferred. We support the Emirates from our Ras Al Khaimah office, remotely around the clock and on site where needed.

  • Data handled in line with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021), and the separate DIFC and ADGM regimes where they apply.

Zero Trust Security in Saudi Arabia

Shyphan AI Technologies LLC, Malaz, King Abdulaziz Road, Riyadh

Saudi organisations working towards the NCA Essential Cybersecurity Controls often find that zero trust steps such as strong identity, least privilege and segmentation map well onto controls they must already meet. We plan stages for sites in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province, including industrial and field locations with operational technology. Our Riyadh office leads this work in the Kingdom.

  • Work aligned with the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (SDAIA) and, for government and critical infrastructure, the NCA Essential Cybersecurity Controls.
FAQ

Zero Trust Security: common questions

Is zero trust a product we can buy?

No single product delivers it. Zero trust is an approach that uses identity, device management, network access and monitoring tools working together.

How long does a zero trust programme take?

It is delivered in stages. Quick wins such as MFA and conditional access come early, while segmentation and data controls follow over a longer period.

Do we need to replace our VPN?

Not straight away. Many organisations move their most-used applications to zero trust access first and retire the VPN gradually.

Does zero trust work with Microsoft 365?

Yes. Entra ID conditional access, Intune device compliance and Microsoft Defender are common building blocks.

Can a mid-sized company in the UAE adopt zero trust without a large budget?

Yes. Many first steps, such as MFA, conditional access and device compliance, use licences companies already hold, and later stages can be funded over time.

How does zero trust handle contractors and suppliers?

Contractors reach only named applications after identity and device checks, rather than the whole network over VPN, and their access ends when the contract does.

Do you provide Zero Trust Security in Dubai and Riyadh?

Yes. We deliver Zero Trust Security across the UAE from our Ras Al Khaimah office and across Saudi Arabia from our Riyadh office, with remote support 24/7 and on-site visits in cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam where your project needs them.
