Device Staging & Imaging
Staging means preparing devices before they reach users: installing your standard applications, applying settings and security, enrolling them in management and labelling them. It is for businesses rolling out new devices in volume or onboarding staff regularly.
- Same build on every device
- Enrolled in management before delivery
- Labelled and recorded in your register
Device staging and imaging is the preparation of laptops and desktops before they reach users. It includes applying a standard build, installing applications, setting security policies, enrolling devices in management and labelling them, through traditional imaging or zero-touch tools such as Windows Autopilot, so every device arrives consistent, secure and ready for work.
Device Staging & ImagingDevice Staging & Imaging: what it involves
When devices arrive straight from the box, someone has to spend hours on each one installing applications, running updates, joining it to the domain or management tool and applying security settings. The result varies from machine to machine, steps get missed and new starters wait while IT catches up. In a large rollout, that manual effort becomes the bottleneck that holds back the whole project.
We agree a standard build with you, covering operating system edition, applications, settings, security tools and enrolment. Where your environment supports it, we use modern deployment with Windows Autopilot and Intune so devices configure themselves on first sign-in. Otherwise we apply a tested image. Each device is updated, checked against a list, labelled and recorded before delivery, so users sign in and start working.
What goes into a standard build
- 1Operating system edition and language settings
- 2Core applications for all staff, plus role-specific extras
- 3Security tools, encryption and update policies
- 4Enrolment in Intune or your management platform
- 5Asset tag, user assignment and delivery location
Our Device Staging & Imaging scope
Laptops and desktops built to your standard and enrolled before they reach staff.

An agreed list of apps, settings and security tools.
Tested images applied consistently to every device.
Zero-touch deployment with Windows Autopilot and Intune where suitable.
Operating system and app updates installed before delivery.
Asset labels applied and devices recorded in your register.
Each device checked against the build list before dispatch.
What you receive, and what shapes the cost
What you receive
- Documented standard build for each device type and role
- Configured deployment method, such as Windows Autopilot with Intune or a captured image
- Staged devices with applications, updates and security settings applied
- Asset labels and records linked to each user
- A build update process for new applications and versions
What affects the cost
- Number of devices and how many different builds are needed
- Whether zero-touch deployment or traditional imaging is used
- Number of applications to package and test
- Delivery and user handover arrangements
Device Staging & Imaging: project phases
- 01Define the build
We agree applications, settings and security baselines for each role.
- 02Package and test
Applications are packaged and the build is tested on pilot devices.
- 03Stage
Devices are enrolled, updated, configured, labelled and recorded.
- 04Hand over
Devices go to users with sign-in instructions and early support.
Common Device Staging & Imaging mistakes
Manual setups drift apart and take longer, so use a repeatable build.
Old images need hours of updates on first boot, so refresh the build regularly.
A faulty build copied across many devices multiplies the problem, so pilot first.
Admin rights let users install risky software, so remove them by default.
Device Staging & Imaging terms explained
- Image
- A captured copy of an operating system and software that is copied onto devices.
- Windows Autopilot
- A Microsoft service that configures new Windows devices when users first sign in.

- Security baseline
- The standard set of security settings applied to every device.

The difference you will notice
- 01Consistent devices
Every laptop built the same way, every time.
- 02Faster onboarding
New starters sign in and work on day one.
- 03Secure from the start
Encryption and security tools in place before first use.

Device Staging & Imaging in the UAE and Saudi Arabia
Local offices in Ras Al Khaimah and Riyadh, remote support around the clock and on-site visits where your project needs them.

Device Staging & Imaging in the UAE
Shyphan AI Technology LLC, RAK Free Trade Zone, Ras Al KhaimahUAE companies with staff across several emirates use zero-touch deployment so new devices can be shipped directly to users and configured on first sign-in. Builds can include Arabic language packs, regional settings and disk encryption, which supports the security measures expected under the UAE PDPL. We support the Emirates from our Ras Al Khaimah office, remotely around the clock and on site where needed.
- Data handled in line with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021), and the separate DIFC and ADGM regimes where they apply.

Device Staging & Imaging in Saudi Arabia
Shyphan AI Technologies LLC, Malaz, King Abdulaziz Road, RiyadhSaudi organisations onboarding staff in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province use staged builds to give every new joiner the same secure setup. Entities covered by the NCA Essential Cybersecurity Controls should include their hardening baseline in the build, and encrypted devices help protect personal data under the Saudi PDPL. Our Riyadh office leads this work in the Kingdom.
- Work aligned with the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (SDAIA) and, for government and critical infrastructure, the NCA Essential Cybersecurity Controls.
Device Staging & Imaging: common questions
What is Windows Autopilot?
Autopilot is a Microsoft service that lets a new Windows device configure itself from the cloud when the user first signs in, using policies set in Intune.
Do we need Intune for staging?
No. Intune and Autopilot make it easier, but we can also stage devices with traditional imaging if that suits your environment.
Can you stage devices we buy elsewhere?
Yes. We can stage devices you supply, as well as devices bought through us.
How do you keep the build up to date?
We review the build when your applications or policies change, and keep a record of each version.
Can new laptops be shipped straight to staff homes in the UAE and set up automatically?
Yes. With Windows Autopilot and Intune the device configures itself when the user signs in, so it can go straight from the supplier to the user.
Can you stage Mac devices as well?
Yes. Macs can be enrolled in a device management platform such as Intune and configured with your applications and security settings.
Do you provide Device Staging & Imaging in Dubai and Riyadh?
Yes. We deliver Device Staging & Imaging across the UAE from our Ras Al Khaimah office and across Saudi Arabia from our Riyadh office, with remote support 24/7 and on-site visits in cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam where your project needs them.
