UK GDPR Compliance
The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 set the rules for processing personal data in the United Kingdom, with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as the regulator. We help organisations with UK customers or staff turn those obligations into working records, processes and controls.
- Records of processing in place
- DPIAs for higher-risk processing
- Security that matches the risk
UK GDPR compliance is the work of aligning how an organisation processes personal data of people in the United Kingdom with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, regulated by the Information Commissioner's Office. Shyphan AI ITSM helps UK businesses, and UAE or Saudi companies with UK customers or staff, build records, processes and security controls alongside legal advisers.
UK GDPR ComplianceUK GDPR Compliance: what it involves
UK GDPR applies to organisations established in the UK and to some outside it that offer goods or services to, or monitor, people in the UK. Many international businesses in the Gulf and India serve UK clients or employ UK staff and assume their home-country processes are enough. Common gaps include missing records of processing, privacy notices that no longer match reality, no impact assessments for new systems and unclear breach reporting responsibilities.
We build or refresh your records of processing activities, review lawful bases and privacy notices, and set up a routine for subject access and other rights requests. For new or higher-risk processing we help you run data protection impact assessments. We review processor contracts and international transfer arrangements with your legal advisers, set up breach assessment steps, and check that technical measures such as MFA, encryption, access control and logging match the risk to the data.
Common gaps we find
- 1No up-to-date record of processing activities
- 2Privacy notices that do not match current systems
- 3No DPIA for a new CRM, HR or monitoring system
- 4No clear owner for subject access requests
- 5Processor contracts missing data-protection terms

UK GDPR Compliance: project phases
- 01Map processing
We record what personal data is processed, its lawful basis and who receives it.
- 02Assess gaps
Practice is compared with the UK GDPR obligations your advisers confirm apply.
- 03Build processes
Notices, rights handling, DPIAs and breach response are put in place.
- 04Secure and maintain
Security measures are applied and records are reviewed as the business changes.
Common UK GDPR Compliance mistakes
Consent is only one lawful basis and can be withdrawn, so choose the basis that fits each purpose.
Sending UK data to the UAE, Saudi Arabia or elsewhere needs a valid transfer mechanism, so review each transfer with your advisers.
Requests have legal deadlines, so assign owners and track each one.
High-risk processing without an assessment is hard to defend, so complete DPIAs before launch.

UK GDPR Compliance: common questions
Is UK GDPR the same as EU GDPR?
They are closely aligned, but UK GDPR is a separate law that sits alongside the Data Protection Act 2018 and is regulated by the ICO.
Does UK GDPR apply to companies based outside the UK?
It can, if you offer goods or services to people in the UK or monitor their behaviour. Your legal advisers can confirm how it applies to you.
What is a DPIA?
A data protection impact assessment is a structured review of processing that is likely to be high risk, carried out before it starts, to identify and reduce risks to individuals.
Do you act as our Data Protection Officer?
We do not take on the DPO role. We support your DPO or privacy lead with records, processes and security controls.
Do UAE or Saudi companies need a UK representative under UK GDPR?
Some organisations outside the UK that offer goods or services to, or monitor, people in the UK must appoint a UK representative. Your legal advisers should confirm whether this applies to you.
Can our Microsoft 365 setup support UK GDPR obligations?
Yes. Features such as retention policies, sensitivity labels, audit logging and data loss prevention support security and record-keeping, although compliance also needs processes and legal review.
Do you provide UK GDPR Compliance in Dubai and Riyadh?
Yes. We deliver UK GDPR Compliance across the UAE from our Ras Al Khaimah office and across Saudi Arabia from our Riyadh office, with remote support 24/7 and on-site visits in cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam where your project needs them.
